How Notion Changed My Way of Thinking and Lifestyle Habits

We often say that tools are made for people. We choose the right tool based on our current needs. However, this perspective isn’t entirely accurate. Tools aren’t just for individual use; they can harmonize with people, mutually promoting growth. In other words, tools can shape your life and mindset. In this article, I’ll share the three stages of my Notion learning journey. You’ll see how Notion influenced my way of thinking and my lifestyle habits.

  1. Introduction to Notion:
    • I came across Notion around the beginning of 2020. Initially, I approached it with the mindset that “tools are for people to use.” I didn’t bother with tutorials or advanced features. If I didn’t understand a feature (like many functions of the database), I’d skip it. I used Notion mainly for taking reading notes, treating it as a more aesthetically pleasing note-taking app. At this stage, Notion didn’t significantly change my thinking or habits.
  2. Using Notion for Systematic Management:
    • After about a year, I stumbled upon videos of Notion experts on YouTube. They showcased comprehensive life management using Notion. Initially, I was puzzled. As someone who only used a to-do list and occasionally wrote notes, I couldn’t grasp concepts like goal management, project management, or knowledge management. However, the overwhelmingly positive reviews and some free time led me to explore various English Notion templates. After 2-3 months of exploration, I developed my system, the “Life Coach System.” This system covers long-term visions, short-term OKR tracking, daily actions, knowledge system building, and review tracking. It practically encompasses all aspects of life.
  3. Mastering Notion – Sharing with More People:
    • After experiencing the immense value of the “Life Coach System,” I wanted to share it with others. I aimed to help more people establish their “Life Coach System” and grow through Notion. This led to the creation of the “Life Management Guide.” Looking back, Notion’s role in my life evolved from a mere tool to a personal assistant and finally to a life coach. It became a harmonious system that helped me record various life events, solve problems, and achieve life goals.
